2013 NCAAs Division I, II and III Winners Crowned

Congratulations to Towson for returning to the NCAA Division I tournament as CAA champs and how about Detroit, a new team just a few years ago and making it to the tournament as the Automatic Qualifier (AQ) by winning their league.  Duke, Denver, Cornell and Syracuse in the Final Four in Philly and no Hopkins in the tourney for the 1st time since the it began.  At my 45th college reunion at JHU, Loyola beats JHU at home and JHU looked bad as if they had not figured out the new rules.  Those subtle changes in play have made a big difference in scoring (up 2-3 goals per team per game) and enjoy-ability of most games since teams are running the break more and stalling less.  Old school lacrosse is back and I am glad.

Stevenson wins NCAA Division III crown - Congratulations to Stevenson - they are NCAA Division III National Champions beating RIT in a slugfest and a flood of goals by Stevenson in the fourth quarter.  Stevenson wins 16-14 - lots of shots (Total of 56 SOGs).  Congratulations to my friend Paul Cantabene, head coach, and the whole Stevenson Lacrosse community.

Le Moyne wins Division II - Le Moyne wins the Division II National Championship over favorite Mercyhurst 11-10 on the back of Goalie Jeff White (13 Saves) that tournament's most valuable player.

Duke wins it all in NCAA Division I - Denver lets an early lead slip away on Syracuse's comeback in the semis..  Duke's goalie Turri outplays Cornell's Fiore (16 saves to 10) in a 16-14 semifinal shootout.  This is the only game of the Division I tournament where goalie play was the deciding factor.  Duke wins 16-10 after being down 1-6 at the end of the 1st period.  They rallied behind their faceoff man, Fowler, the tournament MVP who won 21 faceoffs.

2013 Rule Changes - How do you think the new rules have changed the tournament - not a lot - shot per game are up 10% as are possessions and shots on goal with all but two of sixteen games won by the team with more shots on goal.
